Pat Your Back

Everybody needs to just listen,
listen to the song in your heart.

Just let the melody, and the harmonies,
and the lyrics pat your back, if your smart.

Because there's nothing better than that language
to lift your spirit so high, it's clean out of sight;

it'll give you the strength to climb up any mountain,
and the comfort of knowing, it's gonna be alright.

But, should your taste in music turn to melancholy,
well, them there blues, may just gonna hafta be your tune;

until you shake it off, and learn it's not about you
it's about him, or her.....and everybody else, under the moon.

Everybody needs to sing out loud;
sing the song playing in their soul,

just let the melody, and the harmonies,
and the lyrics pat your back, and make you whole.

I'm suprized this was overlooked. The message is pertinent and the rhyme is spot on. The main thing I think you might think about working on is "..may just gonna hafta.." I know it's there to lend a bluesy edge but for some reason it just doesn't seem to fit...............stan

I may just gonna hafta say,
That this way of speaking must be continuous in a piece or left out
as it seems to grate, as when I say Tiz OK in a piece.
Your knowledge of English words exceeds this typo lol.
The rest of this piece as Stan says is good.
Take care have a great holiday,
Yours Ian.T
