Possibilities

My daughter sits at table
I know how she tilts her head
like mine

And she's always able
to mimic
my comedy foibles

I wonder as I gaze upon
her wistful face how
She will find herself

I will long
for her adventures
as she stumbles
into her life

My daughter
is me
but with possibilities
don't you see?

Wish our offspring to have better chances ,don't we?

Stanza 3 is unnecessary add (imo) but the decision of course is yours

Thanks for the comments. Stanza 3 was the whole point of this piece...lol...I had been chatting with my daughter about her 21st present and she whipped out a student travel brochure...with budget costings and routes marked out. All she needed was 'bank of mum' to make it happen!

I don't think this is clearly stated . I read the whole poem as how do the children like to imitate their parents and that's why I thought the third stanza isn't a useful add.By the way it is always good that the same poem be read differently.

The question now is , has she got what she wished ? LOL

A, should I say, sweet write, as a Mother would, in hope that a child will do well, even if mimicking the parent.
This should be the aim of all parents to teach their children the best parts of us then watch them learn the rest hopefully with grace, Yours Ian.T

God...I miss my girl so much. Just got to spend a precious few days with her. I see so much of the younger me...but she's her own woman very much so now. Let the adventures begin!

We are so alike sometimes JC...gotta meet up one day!

Love Ells xx
