Peering through cigarette smoke

Forget
the balm of barometric exuberance.
This night
no longer young, dissipates.

Recall
a dewy welcome of sun-quaffed green.
Yesterdays
revive severed umbilical dreams.

Peruse
this present but fleeting acumen.
Today
ceases yet emerges again tomorrow.

Ignite
that kindling of autumnal reticence.
Perhaps
genial kindnesses shall spring.

Indeed, it is slightly different, a bit experimental. I am happy that you liked it. You are much appreciated. Have a happy Australia Day!

"A poet falls in love with an art student who gravitates to his bohemian lifestyle -- and his love of heroin. Hooked as much on one another as they are on the drug, their relationship alternates between states of oblivion, self-destruction, and despair."

Not sure about this, but because it's about poetry... We shall see...

They only featured 3 poems, or parts of 3 poems. 2 from Heath's character (the poet) and one from ee cummings which he read out to Candy and proposed after the reading:

(1) like a prologue:

When I first met candy,
those were like the days of juice.
when everything was bountiful.
birds filled the sky
(a) great kindness flowed through us.

2) the proposal poem:

Here's the deepest secret nobody knows.
here's the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life
which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart, I carry it i my heart

ee cummings

and (3) the rantings and ravings of a dope-filled mind:

we had a lot going for us
we'd found the secret glue
that held all things together
in a perfect place,
where the noise did not intrude
our world was so very complete
