Very neat construction...liked the ending...'husband and wife another life'... the ability to compartmentalise actions is the way deceivers assuage the guilt. I had an affair many years ago trapped in a violent, sad relationship...it was a like a drowning woman grasping at a floating log. It gave me some glimmer of hope of another life. Obviously it becomes a destructive vicious circle and no long-term solution for happiness. It was like self-medicating...a temporary reprieve.
Will probably burn in hell, but I'll take my chances.

Me too! Was remarried in October 2012...blissfully happy now! LOL I think people have affairs for many reasons. It's hard in our modern society, with access to images & temptation to cover our tracks and the freedoms our grandmothers could only dream about. It's easy to get married, quite hard work to really stay faithful. I'm at an age now where this feels like a wonderful gift, i'm happy. Happy people don't generally go looking for extra-curricular affairs. An affair is a symptom of the malaise in a current relationship.
