A good write there young one.
We try to give the world capitalism, as we know that it may be the only thing that works. Are we joking???
I had to laugh the other day when they said that one of the rulers in China was worth 20 billion or more, there seems to be no escape from the ruination that greed can spread throughout any system you care to think of.
Millionaires coming out of Russia buying UK football teams as a hobby.
A democratic dictator established in Egypt , the list is endless,
I do hope that the flag of the USA wont incorporate another star such as the star of David becoming the 51st state we came first.
I have always wanted to declare war on the States and give in the next day and let them pick up the tabs LOL
You take care young man I am so glad that I am at this age now, Yours as always, Ian.T
Hi Ian,
Greed will always be motivation for many but capitalism
gives it the green light. It wasn't meant to be this way in its
beginning (or maybe it was), it was meant to help the common
man but it has now separated us to the extreme of one percent
holding more wealth than ninety percent of the nation and their
greed grows so they've taken it out to other countries. In Indonesia
the Marlboro Man has made a comeback. Here in the States
advertising tobacco products is against the law, but not there.
That's just one example and I feel nobody even wants to know
here, but can't help but feel the need to write it out.
thanks
Richard

Have you got the address of the "Dead Peasants Society" as I is 70 and a Peasant not being of those other classes.
Never had time to save money with the children and then later on trying to life a standard life always working 9-5 as it were. Thank God or whoever for our health service, had I been in the States I would now be in a trailer park and what ever lol, Take care young man, it's another day, and another Dollar LOL, Yours Ian.T
Exactly Ian,
in America that story is prevalent. I worked my whole life,
never could save and when I couldn't work anymore lost
a house and most everything. If I didn't have this little dump
I'm living in paid for, we would've been homeless.
The Dead Peasants Society is a play on the title to one of
my favorite movies "the Dead Poets Society" ... if you've not
seen it, it is a good one.
The "dead peasants policy" is actual wording from insurance
policies taken out on employees and private citizens
by many of the larger corporations here, like;
Walmart, Bank of America, Citi Card ... and the list goes on.
The policy's have the corporations as beneficiaries, some netting
in the millions of dollars. Walmart was actually sued and lost over
this kind of backhanded scandalous treatment of their employees.
This kind of news we don't get to see here, at least not for the
magnitude it is.
I can't help thinking...
that there is a much misquoted parable in the Bible. It is; "Money is the root of all evil". It is often used when someone doesn't have as much money as another and wants to demonize them. The correct saying is: "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." The truth of the matter is, that after one has all the necessities of life; such as sustenance, shelter, clothing, etc. When does it become greed to want better and more? I feel that everyone should contribute to the society that supports them. If it is Social Services, then they should work for the State or County by picking up garbage from the streets or highways or repairing buildings, taking care of the elderly or baby-sitting babys while others work. Demeaning work? How is it more demeaning than being a drain on society? Liken it to going to someone's home and just taking what you want, rather than paying for it with some kind of work or money. A bum! Ask these people if they would give out a cigarette or bottle of beer to everyone that asks for it! I'm sure that they would say; "Find your own way to get them", or maybe "Keep your hands off of my stack" [To quote one of my favorite bands. Pink Floyd].~ Gee
Gee,
A required occasional job in community social services
is actually a good idea, right now it's done but only as an
alternative punishment to jail. Helping the community should
not be looked upon as a punishment.
Absolute power corrupts, which is what the American Corporate
world brings to the table. The people have been forgotten.
Dear Richard
I have over the last couple of years watched your country and the economy I cant comment I dont live there but from what I have read and watched your poem speaks a truth that rings across oceans
cant see anything I would change kudos on a strong write !!
regards JC
p.s love the title
Hi Jayne,
Thanks for reading, it's up to us to point the wrongs !!!
Hope all is well with you,
Richard
Hi Richard
If you think it's bad now just wait until the coming inflation really cranks up. None of our national leaders have much of a clue about what work is and few have any idea of how to create jobs (or rather how to get out of job creators' way). BTW good poem on a relevant issue...........stan
Thanks Stan,
and you are exactly right, jobs are what is needed,
not the blame game or shoulda dids, jobs !!! and I'm
not talking about fast food or the local quickie mart,
industrial jobs where people can get back to making
things for themselves and earn a fair wage and come
home tired but feeling good about it.
