DO YOU WANT..................

Do you want to go with me
....to the high school football game
....and afterward a burger joint
....as we play the dating game ?

Do you want to go with me
....down the church's wedding aisle
....then on a modest honeymoon
....where we both could love and smile?

Do you want to go with me
....to our first place (a mobile home)
....set on a country piece of land
....where birds flock and rabbits roam?

Do you want to go with me
....to pick our kids up after school
....and watch all those happy faces
....skip and run and act the fool?

Do you want to go with me
....back to our little empty nest
....where we can relearn each other
....and reopen our passions' chest?

Do you want to go with me
....as years pile up and I grow old
....while you retain that youthful glow?
....our story is not quite yet told

I'll not ask you to go with me
....as I approach that final night
...yet know that I'll wait for you
....when you enter that brightest light

but I'm too spent
like you ...
both in the twilight of our lives
and
who would risk now going with you
certainly not I Stan

perhaps she has no option
oooo lalalal la
wish her well from our side
there's nothing now left to hide
all rides are free for all of us
all that can well see
and the sunrise is like an ebbing twilight
don't let it trouble thee ...
the darkness will soon be over
as the sunsets beyond the awaiting horizon
then the school's sweetheart will also say
darling follow me
the sun sets happily
with glee
