What wonders the imagination can bring
With opened ear and untamed eye
Dreams that we shall toss and fling
And float about towards the sky
By luminous light of thought
Day and night will awaken newly
And become what you have sought
To find your most distant Thule
Never letting go of that which we cherish
The spirit of innocence and truth
Why without it, what would we but perish?
In the darkness of lost youth

Hello,
The title of your poem caught my eye, as I had recently posted one titled "Dream Castles". Mine is free verse as opposed to your nicely structured verse. I like these lines:
Never letting go of that which we cherish
The spirit of innocence and truth
Why without it, what would we but perish?
In the darkness of lost youth
but I must ask, what is "Thule"?
always, Cat
: )
Thank you!
Thule basically means a distant goal or destination; I heard it in the poem "Dreamland" by Edgar Allan Poe.
Last line I want to change..
I like the whole poem
and for me I change or tell people I like their poems
and then example given..
Like this
"Why without it. what would we but perish?
to the lost youth of darkness...."
Think of bridges and forgotten homes
shells of existance
alive unkempt
hungry for action
oblivion
sense in the wasteland
of the coming attractions
Burning with fervent spirit
I think of the slum land photographs
turn of the century and then
the fifties grandiose turning dream
the first of designer schemes
HeroinLand
I loved Poe...I read him for a long time
in my early twenties
Americana mythology
I know of many who woke to black skies
for years and years
their smiles brought forth in the rare of
sunlight even now
shattered but alive
and happy for it
I dont want you change your
poem of course I love it as it is
Thank You!
Thank
you so much for your comment! I appreciate the suggestion, but i'm going to keep it the way it is.
