Wedding Day

WEDDING DAY

The meeting, the noticing, the realisation.
The butterflies, nervousness, anticipation.
Excitement that turns your insides out.
The dawning, the knowing; there is no doubt.
The second, the moment when two hearts collide.
The time of your life when there’s no more divide.
The decision, the choosing of bright, shiny gold.
The joy of sharing, no more secret to hold.
The shout to the sky, the moon and the sun.
“Today is the day that we become one!”
The vows, the tokens, the unification
The speeches, the toasts, the celebration.
The farewells, good wishes, a bouquet to cast
The starlight, the passion, alone at last.

About This Poem

Last Few Words: I wrote this poem for my daughter on her wedding day - it is very personal to her and the way that she and her new husband met. Obviously, she loves it but I would appreciate some feedback from people who know nothing about her or me!

I really loved your couplets and enjoyed every word. Your daughter should be proud to have her father writing about her weddding day.

I have nothing to offer except a suggestion to give a space between each couplet for easier reading .
I especially loved

The decision, the choosing of bright, shiny gold.
The joy of sharing, no more secret to hold.
The shout to the sky, the moon and the sun.
“Today is the day that we become one!”

Very touching and memorable lines.

Best of luck to you both.

This is a wonderful joyous poem that celebrates the joining of two lives. There isn't anything to not like about it! I enjoyed the flow and rhyming couplets. Keep on writing! My favorite lines are:

The dawning, the knowing; there is no doubt.
The second, the moment when two hearts collide.
The time of your life when there’s no more divide.
The decision, the choosing of bright, shiny gold.
