MY LEG ON HIS THIGH

"MY LEG ON HIS THIGH"
Margaret Ann Waddicor 1 am.
10th December 2010.

My leg on his thigh,
my breast on his arm,
I gaze at my partner,
his face is so calm,
his eyelids are shut,
his breathing is even,
how peaceful is sleep,
hope deep in his dream,
my body feels comfort,
far greater than pain,
its warmth is my cradle,
in life its refrain,
the song we all long for,
and all wish to hear,
away from all troubles,
protected from fear,
how great is this feeling,
right next to my dear.

This isn't really my sort of poetry that I enjoy...but it captured me in a moment of tranquility and peace. It had a real sense of togetherness. It oozed warmth and love.

I just went downstairs and gave my wife a kiss and made her a cup of tea...don't think a poem has ever made me do that before.

Thanks for sharing...my wife thanks you too...I must do that more often!

I know the few times Susan or I have been apart the lack of the other lying beside me leads to restless sleep. You captured the warmth of long familiarity well in this poem.................scribbler

I thank you all.
Especially Hooded stranger as I was
made very glad to hear your story,
how lovely to have made you feel like that,
it was written with feeling too.

Love all Ann.

A lovely poem, it's enough to make those who are loved, feel warm and those who are not, feel even more unloved.

No one is without someone who loves them, I don't feel.
We fellow humans have that love to give,
and there are many of them that give,
and do not receive, and so you too are loved,
who think it not so, and if it is you,
then I love you too!!
I think it is in the giving of love that one feels loved,
even if it is not given back in the same way,
it has its resonance and doesn't die, such is love.

Sounds complicated, but it is the simplest thing in the world.

Ann!
