NIGHTMARE

I can't waken from this nightmare
where I'm old and fat with scarce white hair
and ambulate with painful stride
( at least I still have my child bride )

Even with the skills I know
work has become scarce and slow
knees hurt when I climb a ladder
and I now posses a tiny bladder

Banks are asking Me for money
'cause they are broke, now ain't that funny
to get to space we'll soon need hitch
tell me now ain't that a bitch!

While on Wall street bonuses paid
while the bill on us is laid
Congress gets their unearned raise
as old folks hunger, oft for days

The houses we've paid on for years
if sold would leave us in arrears
we send illegals free to school
our courts must be lead by a fool

God, I hope to soon awaken
before my very dreams are taken
leaving me with nothing left
and of all my hope bereft

A well written clever poem. We didn't get a cost of living raise last year and won't this year. They say the cost of living didn't go up. LOL. Maybe not for them, because thier not paying for it. I can't wait to vote someone else out. Take Care. huey

You ride your horse with such panache and verve,
and paint the bric-a-brac of old age in a collage
that is swinging from the attic beams,
like the old cobwebs
in the breezethrough the cracks in the roof,
great fun Stan.
