The kaleidoscope of events
was the life that passed
well planned strategies of life
that were expected to occur,
have fallen short of dreams
that were held while still
a bright eyed youth
To have thought that achievements
would come by simply working hard
then to realize
dreams are but made of vapors
which seem to pass like clouds
all that's left behind is the reality
of standing in the light
Then like a storm
the rain begins to pour
without a single cloud in the sky
the realization
that many seasons have gone by
since I thought the world was mine
Standing here
in the light of truth
which clearly shows what I've become
all my dreams have gone on rivers
floating off to the sea
Knowing now
what i have accomplished
truly
out weights all my dreams

I've applied some of the changes you suggested, we'll see how it works, to me it's like that first stanza lost a little of it's tempo. we'll just leave it to the readers.
thank you so very much any help is always appreciated.

Dreams are definitely
Dreams are definitely ephemeral as clouds, but the rain is real as can be. I felt this one because I have lived it as so well described.
Well done.

Two grammatical things:
"The kaleidoscope of events
which was (were) the life that passed
the well planned strategies of a life
which was (were) expected to occur

I made changes from the suggestions of alma and you, let me know what you think
