What is a star ?
But something dying
Yet is beautiful
Does anyone miss it ?
When no longer there
Leaving a void
Unreachable
Untouchable
Only meant to be gazed upon in awe
Sharing light
Giving guidance
Symbol of hope
Ablaze
Burning bright
While wearing a façade
Of ice
Many gaze upon you
No one can
Draw near
One day you will fade
Still
An image will
Remain

Hello China blue
A more scientific view of a shooting star! I like the way you have seen it from a different point of view.
Interesting and thought provoking.
Thanks for sharing.

I read this and it was beautifully sad.
It gave me the thought that life...is actually death. The star is dying from the moment it is seen, just as human life is dying the minute it is born. I don't think this poem was to be found to be so depressing, but I enjoyed it and am currently penning a dying poem about life!!
I found the the stanza's were perfectly short, not long detailed lines, but short, simple and depressingly tragic (in a good way)

Chrys,
yes I have read your comment to 'Sister' and have given appropriate response to it.
This piece really is as sad as I had imagined...yes the metaphor for a person...yes indeed.
This is an exceptional write...I hope it gets the attention it deserves.
kindest regards,
HS
so far, far away, in the limits of space's infinity
As we all die at different paces
and the one's we see
are probably dead long ago,
makes one wonder,
as you too are wondering
at the meaning of it all;
and what is it that experiences?
Is it our minds,
our consciousness?
Or are there other 'experiencings' out there
in the universe,
so far, far away,
in the limits of space's
infinity
Enjoyed the thought awakener China Blue.

Stars; so cold at a distance yet unapproachably hot up close. Like many people I expect..........stan
Dear Chrys
Although it is a sad poem I also found it to be beautiful. The last few lines really resonated with me!

Dear Chrys,
I just stopped by to see if you had written anything new. We received your holiday good wishes in the mail. Haven't sent ours out yet, as I am waiting for Steve to finish the news letter that goes with the card. I hope all is well with you and yours.
