Once, hand in hand, I walked this way before
with one desire, who set out to deceive.
I now deplore the thought of any encore
that may, one more time, cause my heart to grieve.
So it must surely come as no surprise
I struggle to resist the warmth I feel.
I turn to face you, look into your eyes,
preparing to deny my love is real.
But in their depths I see the glint of tears
as fresh and virtuous as morning dew.
They wash against my heart, subdue my fears,
and promise me enchantments all anew.
So, take my hand and prove your love is true
while, in the style of Ruth, I follow you.

Hi Judy
It's great to see you post again even if it Is to show me how a sonnet Should be done lol. I liked the title as it reinforced the feeling of a dutiful wife. hmmm.... 2nd stanza repeats starting 2 lines with I....could say turning to face you.......instead...................stan
thanks stan
lol - i didn't mean it to show you how a sonnet is done
i really am no expert
as for those lines - i'll look at them - thanks
can't use you suggestion though as then the line will start with a dum and the iambic would be off - 'TURNing to'

In the manner of the bard himself
you show that a sonnet can have infinite meanings, all true.
Totally impressed.

to decorate our pages with poetry agin.
Welcome back judyanne of the western sands
and the wide land of Australia. And you bless us with
this heartfelt song; its shining senses reflected out to us
as from the interior of an agate stone, its heart revealed
full of sharp crystals beautiful, that express the whole,
the happy, sad, the bold and timid all in one.
With love...annanya.

It warns ones heart to see the return of beautiful faces we...
It warns ones heart
to see the return
of beautiful faces we...
traversed with across the seven seas,
now in voices of sparrows
soft and sweet,
we can hardly wait to hear
the politest speech, of one
since long in hibernation,
as do some birds,
awaiting the return of a spring
ere the summer…
such melodious voices like cuckoo’s sing
and
songs of praise all poets murmur
the one we missed most,
now returns
and
the warmth of flames in our hearts does burn.
A new form of poetry shall be born
as we great poets return,
from our distant sojourn,
in search of melody and symphony
to tune our ears for musicality,
in terms of unmistakable sinographic poetry
thank you loved
that is beautiful
love and hugs
