What They Don't know

Do not propose to understand
what lives within these walls
Our lives are as individual as we

What came before ,just may be more
Then one can understand
The present and the future days
will find us going separate ways
Living the best we can

Neither I nor you are here to judge
what a person may feel inside
The outer image that we see
May not be true to life

And who am I ,but a passing thought
To presume that I know another
From what they have been through
To all they have seen
Is not mine to question
So I'll let it be

We've all had misfortune, trouble and strife
But these have been kept to our personal life
Not to be scoffed at by those that do not know
An explanation of mine
I do not owe

We can and do, however, judge each other's actions, do we not? By our deeds we are known. Problem is one person's deeds my not have another's *good* in mind. Is that true enough? Sometimes we even grow as human beings. Problem is our inability to get out, open that door from behind the walls of our own making....

One of your better poems, imo, why? Because it came from your heart.

Now rewrite that more in keeping with poetry rather than *preaching*. Read my poem "there are no closet poets", that too, was written to *someone* with whom I had been in disagreement over poetry and his particular penchant for needing to be* told* and not *shown*.

It is so true that you cannot judge a book by its cover! One must walk a mile in another's shoes to truely know what is in their heart and head. Great poem!

thank you. I wanted to convey that that and think I have. You never really know a person until you've sat and talk, or wrote,or called etc and they come right out and tell you what they have been through. I do not know anyone that would just blurt out the tragedies, abuse, etc for example to a complete stranger. That is a very personal thing only to be aired in public if chosen

this is indeed a great poem that rings of focus
and heartfelt regality about beliefs
like the one poet above noted

people are people
from all paths and walks
directions

I like workshops from what I've followed
as they are more focused too
for poets

Here one can read Bukowksi style works
or Frost like structure
one can find what one wants to taste
and preference
and work areas to perfect the craft

absolutely love the power of this poem
its very honest and a good poem!

Thank You!

our commonality is writing poems
although throwing pots and getting
glazes is an exquisite craft too
As well as tying a nice fly lure for
fishing or getting a barrel on a
lever action thirty thirty just right
too with blueing

I love poets
as I came first to read in life about
great poets and their lives
and then here to read poets works
and slowly to develop enough to
call myself poet comfortably

Thank You Chrys!
