SOGNSVANN WALK
Shy smile,
passing young girl,
wide view,
lazy dog walking,
a beer top,
dripping branches,
ploop in a dark pool,
leaves gathered
floating
edge of the lake,
a lacy condom
hangs,
mossy stones
slippery,
roots like steps,
the sudden rush
of a squirrel up a nearby
fir tree,
a cormorant sitting silent
at the end of a wooden pier;
the cry of a bird of prey
one leaf dances down,
glancing on branches
as it falls,
yellow birch leaves
caught like treasure,
gold,
the calm water,
ballroom of trees
reflected across the lake.
Comments
Dear Ann,
the calm water,
ballroom of trees
reflected across the lake.
loved these lines! too bad the beer top and condom spoiled the balance of nature. But people are pigs and seem to think the earth is theirs to litter without consequences :(
always, Cat
An impressionist poem in the finest sense.
Gaugin would be proud.
