After moribund years of misery
An exerting care cautiously put
To seek fellowship in the sanctuary
And rest my burden with open door
A querying way asked the why
Not obliged to give a try
But for the gratitude and respect
Troubled self bereft of answers
For the tools to tackle the mundane
Choir and songs top in praises
Prayers in tongues seeks supplication
The word manifest in allegories
A pathway to embrace the symbolic
The way to salvation of mankind
Inward journey we must undertake
Through the door we have opened
To let Christ come into our hearts
And be at peace with God in glory

hello,
I must admit, I was a bit put off by your title, but it does fit the piece. I had to look up the word "moribund" (good word!) and leave my findings here for other readers:
mor·i·bund [máwr? bùnd] adjective
1. dying: nearly dead
2. stagnant: having lost all sense of purpose or vitality
3. obsolescent: becoming obsolete
your composition and language usage is excellent, in my opinion.
A good write.
always, Cat
I struggled with the title...
I have not been to church for over thirty years, then the pressure from family, friends and former co-workers, who, having seen my seeming stagnation in joblessness lured me to church. The experience is encapsulated in the piece. The real frustration is left out or probably taken to the sanctuary. Thanks and best wishes.
