Sounds like fun. Retroactive co-writing...................stan

Just a fun way to see what you have written at differnt angle. hopefully sparking off new ideas, and maybe expanding them.

i believe you & Stan will be picking up poems and passing them on to the contestants for them to re-write...right?

S

The poem list which will be picked from will be poems submitted by participants..........stan

lou

Yes we will make a list a alocate the poems to the participants.

ok...so from what you are saying..each contestant shall visit the home page of other participants on Neopoet and pick one of their own choice from a list for re-writing it ..is that so?...

S

It is my understanding that moderators and leader will pick which poem is rewritten by whom. If everybody made their own choice it could result in multiple people picking same poem...........stan

Ok...i get a hang of the operative part of the workshop....would the leaders and moderators pick a few poems and make a list from which to assign a poem to the contestants?...too many questions eh!...lol..

We will have a list of poems, we will work through the list, giving everyone the same poem to re-write, until we have re written every poem.

If people chose what poem they wanted it would become confusing and disordered .

i am sure you will choose poems which have a good deal of diversity in their themes..let me know your choices....considering the duration of the workshop which would be 14 days and giving enough time for each participant to have a go at each poem...i believe we will need to limit the number of poems to just 2 or a maximum three....since as of now we have 5 registered participants..it would make a total of 10-15 poems in all ...am i right?..

I have said in the syllabus, that they should submit one poem each, but if we can we will do more.

sorry to barrage you with my queries...please confirm if i have understood the syllabus and correct me if i am wrong ...

1. A participant chooses a poem for the workshop (his/her own or belonging to any other participant?)

2. He/she re-writes the chosen poem in his/her own style (would it be ok for him/her to change the essence of the poem?)

3. other participants along with the leader..co leader and moderators then comment on the re-writen poem

4. what happens next?...

Raj as I have said, the participant brings a poem they want help with, which has to be thier own as they wouldn't need help with it if it didn't belong to them.

We will have a list of these poems, we will work through the list , so poem one will be given to particepants and they either partially or fully rewrite it as they see fit, we discuss what they have written in order to help the orginal author, then we go to the next poem and repeat the process till they have finished the list.

Then as I said, the original authors rewrite their poems using what they have learnt, and they post them.

from what you have explained...if i am a participant i pick up one of my own poem/s for which i need help...if so...how would i be able to re-write the same without any help? are other participants, leader, co-leader and moderators supposed to help me (the contestant) in the process of re-writing my own poem?..

lou

Participants are helping each other by partially or totally rewiting each others work, with the purpose of seeing their own work from a different angle and therefore at the end of the workshop, they should be able to re- write their own work using what they have learnt, ie using it as inspiration.

I hope that has cleared things up for you.

Yes Lou...i now have a good hang of how this workshop would go about helping the contestants re-write their own poem with help from fellow contestants and i believe also from the Leader..co-leader and moderators...thanks for answering my queries...

I have decided to simplify things, can anyone who has not yet posted their problem poem, do so. Then we should go straight to the re- writes. Then once you have received atleast 2 re-writes, the original authors should stat writing their final version.

Lou

Description:

To improve your writing skills and widen your perspective.

Leader:

Lou
Scribbler (Co-Leader)

Moderator(s):

Raj

Objectives:

To improve your writing skills. To re- write and post a poem that is in someone else’s style and therefore develop fresh ideas and a new perspective on your writing and its style. The idea is not to use someones re-write at the end of the workshop and call it your own.

Subject matter:

Each participant will offer at least one poem that they wish to improve, (this may
vary in accordance with the number of participants).

A list of submitted poems will then be made, participants should keep a copy (Leader, co- leader and moderators will keep a copy of the list).

Stan and I will ask the first person on the list post their problem poem. The Author of the problem poem will post it On Stream, Participants will then be able to discuss it whilst On Stream, Paricipants will then re-write or partly re-write the poem and post On Stream. When commenting or posting please indicate that it is for the Splash Pool Work Shop, and click the relivent tab.

The poem will then be reviewed. After brief discussion , we will move on to the next poem, and so on until each poem has been covered.

When each poem has been worked on, the original author will take what they have discovered, and write a final version of their poem and post it On stream.

If you wish to enrol please pm Lou
