Peering out the window high
from my apartment in the sky
bemoaning lack of nature there
at which i could sit and stare
A gray Scottish evening, drab
I hear passersby as they blab
in their multi- colored coats
derived from the sheep and goats
The leaden clouds form a close ceiling
adding a melancholy feeling
as they pass as slow as battle ships
just released from their slips
Then the sun appears just at setting
as clouds begin a last light wetting
it signals the switch on of street light
and end of choreographed pigeons' flight
The window is open and I shiver
at the last light of the red sun sliver
spearing its last rays up high
off blank walls like final sigh
Now I see a passing cat
something for dogs to bark at
which a terrier proceeds to do
in a voice pitched high as any shrew
The darkness becomes total now
in the streets of old Glasgow
save the streetlights, even spaced
and the bugs with which they're graced
For now within each shining cone
moths flicker and beetles drone
and crash into the wet street's glitter
there's a bat! Look at it flitter
Now at last the thick clouds crack
giving a view to me and Zak
of a half dressed crescent moon
emerging from its gray cocoon
Across its face now comes a light
of a jetliner in flight
but now I turn my lonely chair
for there is no nature out there
hello
She actually did not miss it but was dismayed at lack of response and blamed it on subject instead of the writer where the blame belonged. I am, as always, glad to have you stop by................stan
