For Now and Forever

I wish I could tell you all the things I'm thinking.

How I want to hold onto your arm when we walk

How I want to see you every day

How I want to go hiking with you
at that place you told me about

How I desperately want to know what your hand feels like in mine

How your lips feel on mine...

But for now and forever,
I will only know the warmth of your smile
The touch of your hand on my shoulder
The ache of our friendship
The shine in your golden brown eyes when you look at me... the same eyes that drew me in from day one

I will love you as much as I can
For now...
Forever

---

I told you all the things I was thinking

I held your arm when we walked

I saw you every day

We went hiking at that place you told me about...

I know how your hand feels in mine...

How your lips feel on mine...

Now, you're gone.

And I have the memory of your smile
And the touch of your hand on my face
The ache of our friendship,
And the shine in your eyes...

I miss you
And I'll love you as much as I ever did,
For now,
Forever.

Geezer

all those things that you wished for. I felt all the things that you received from this person, and then the absence of the wishes come true. I wondered at the change of situation; the manner of separation doesn't matter, [death, simple breakup, etc.].
You make it acutely felt. ~ Geezer.

very much, Geezer I agree, the manner of separation is irrelevant, but rather, left to the interpretation of the reader. I appreciate your feedback!
