Dodging Section 8 Bullet

Beware of section 8. Tenants are being evicted daily when the system doesn't pay their portion of the rent.

Thank God mama's cousin rented her Mama's house to her, Daddy, and us 7 kids when our rental burned down when we were young teens in the '70s thus averting housing authority apartments in Friendship Apartments when first built.

Again God intervened when a single mom of one, who's 38 today, decided not to rent their mama's house through section 8 but sold it instead.

A sad moment indeed but a blessing later when the 3 sisters let me pick whatever furniture I wanted from their house. God still guided me when a neighbor rented me his grandma's house.

4 years in at age 30 got married, and had 4 kids, not before long we bought our first 5 year balloon payment house. They wouldn't let us sell it 2 years in so we leLet it go and rent from associates who kicked us out for no reason as their marriage fell apart.

Again God intervened opening the door to buy this property and home in 1998. 32 years married, 26 years on this property, God made sure I was not a renter on section 8 going through this foolishness today.

I'm not religious God was always with me through the struggle of life 63 earth years later.

I found the (GOD's) to be a bit annoying; as if shouting and preachy. suggestion: maybe changing them to: God?that is less scary. btw: Welcome back, I have missed you!

Sorry, I annoyed you. I remember your religious stand. I think its i remember you being an atheist. Either way, I'm no longer a religious Christian, etc but spiritual. The all-cap is emphasized. there is a being that started our process of being and I didn't realize God was scary to anybody lol
Weirdelf got me here. my belief in God is not what it used to be

Geezer

we all have a religion. A place and thing that we live by, and we make peace with ourselves and [God]. You always have the option of believing or not. If you choose to believe that something or someone you know as God, helped you; I'm okay with that, maybe he did. If a belief helps you through life, why would you reject it? I agree that the use of all caps of the word is a little bit like shouting, but I didn't take it like that. Anyway, I hope that you do well in the contest.~ Geezer.

Thanks for your perspective. I no longer believe in god or that a god help me do anything or get through life. I No longer believe in god and Jesus as was been taught since Columbus came in 1492 I know there is a creator of all things we have access to once we know it as I am aware consciously these days

Geezer

to lose a comfort that would assure you that everything is going to be alright. Not that I believe in a god that sits in judgement of all that we do and will sentence you to forever in a pit of burning fire if you don't. I subscribe to the George Carlin point of view on organized religion and especially Christianity. There is a god that wants you to do and act in a certain way, and if you deviate from that, he will sentence you to burn forever in a lake of burning fire for ever and ever; but he loves you? I applaud your idea that there is a creator of all things that we have access to. If you learn how to be a good person and associate with good people, you will flourish. Yes, it sounds like religion. ~ Geezer.

I've never known it to be a thing. Ppl judging you based on their religion view is annoying and irritating. I've lived by good standard all my life that's good and right to my conscious but organized religion and going to church I gave that up 7 years ago.

My health suffered trying to be a good Christian in the eyes of hypocrites who expect you to overlook their imperfect behavior while holding you to yours to no end. I'm good without the comfort/cruelty of this god

Geezer

no judgement here. I merely thought that you had that security before giving up on religion. I know some people that have that security because of their utter faith in a god. Obviously, you are not one of them. Be that as it may, I applaud you for your poem and the interesting conversation. Thank you, ~ Geezer.
