This is England

This is England:
A nation of wealth
Where most are poor.
This is England:
Our tempers are hot
Because the weather is cold.
This is England:
We made the U.S
And now they have more!
And English idiom
It's called Sod's law.
This is England
Where beer is cheap
Just like fish and chips
On a cold and breezy shore.
This is England
Where the prisons are full
Due to the size of this island
With a population not small.
This is England.
It is home and i love it
Because, despite the above
I'm English, so I rise above it.
Just like the weather, I stay cool,
I stand up tall, try not to fall.
Because I'm English
This is England - we use our minds
Play the system with words
Like a useful tool.
This, is England - most are poor
But we continue to soar.

I suppose this is meant to be read like a rant, but I thought you might make benefit from rhyme, rhythm and all those poetic tools, so as to read more like poetry rather than like prose..
This is just my opinion. You might like to see what others have to say.
Thank you for sharing.
