Running Shoes

I'm not much of a runner.
But I've traveled long distances
trying to stay ahead
of the grief in my thoughts.

I don't see it as an adversary anymore.
It's simply trying to keep pace
with how I miss you now.

Hello, Michael,
Understanding and accepting grief, feeling empathy toward it and helping it along in its own time frame. Very nice.

I like the use of long distance running as a way to describe the grief resolution process. It doesn't go away, but no longer feels like being pursued. Well, done.
