Everything, A Poem

Everything is a poem.

Rain on the picnic table.
The curve of the cat's tail.
Loose fringe dangling from the pillow.

Therein lies a poem.

White cream fusing with coffee.
Shirt buttons tapping the inside of the dryer.
Shoes resting from yesterday.

It all flows together --

hues of emotions,
watercolors of feelings
rising above their canvas.

Everything, a poem.

Is so true. The smallest thing can spark a poem. From the most simplistic to the most complicated. Beautifully written.

This is lovely, I'm so jealous. I wish I wrote this, it was excellent. The lines in between, perfection. Ruby :) xx

Hi Lavender.

Well, you did it again. You hit the nail on the head about what might be a poem. I really enjoyed the read and agree that EVERYTHING in life is a poem if listened to closely.

Thanks, Will

I think all of us here have a sort of "poetry radar" that senses a poem in the works. It sure feels that way...
Thank you for your kind remarks. I'm happy you enjoyed this!

Geezer

one of your best! I can only echo what the others have said. You have captured the essence of what a poem is. Such inconsequential things as the buttons of a shirt hitting the inside of a dryer; who would have thought? A musician maybe, but what is a musician but a poet? You made this music, let's dance. Nice job, ~ Geez.

This was a lot of fun to write. The shirt buttons in the dryer were singing to me at the time!
Thanks, always, for reading and sharing your thoughts!
