That vain bone is longer'n
both your arms,
worse'n Kathy Lee
and her put on charms.
Pretentiously caring,
with your hair slicked back,
but that magazine smile
highlights empathy's lack.
Those give and take feelings,
you think to display,
they're not fooling anybody
... not today.

Hi Jayne ...
We do all have our vanities, that's why I left the subject
neutral and I failed to include myself ... perhaps need to
amend that discrepancy.
Kathy Lee ... I'm referring to Kathy Lee Gifford, she's been
on morning t.v. in America for quite a while, but maybe you've
not heard of her. She is undoubtedly loved by many here, but
to me she oozes falseness, perhaps it's just me.
thanks for reading
Richard
i really like this richard
i absolutely adore
'Your vain bone is longer'n
both your arms,'... made me smile
'cracks empathy's lack' - i have a bit of trouble with the word 'cracks' - does it have another meaning i don't know?
to 'crack empathy's lack' to me says that the smile can break what empathy doesn't have...?
i wonder (and you know it's just me... smile)
'Pretentiously caring,
with your slicked back hair ,
but that magazine smile
lacks empathy's care '.... ??

Hi Judy ...
Thank you for reading and commenting.
Cracks empathy's lack ... silly me was trying to carry on the image of the
magazine, the crack in the middle, best abandoned as it clearly wasn't
working. Thank you Judy!!!
Hi Chrys...
Yes, plastic is a great description,
thanks for dropping in.
You put me in a wonderfully absurd mood
Oh great this mr moonman
dancing on a spoon man
spilling words like crackers
down the page with quackers
You put me in a wonderfully absurd mood
and I always enjoy that very much, great fun,
makes me want more of it richard, yes do?
Love Ann
Ann of Norway ...
So good to see you here, and there isn't anything wrong with
a wonderful absurdity ... I love it when I'm there.

Hi Stan...
I've met lots of men with over sensitive vanities as well,
it's that durn human thing coming through.
thanks Stan
hi
hi, i love the title and the theme
and the opening lines are brill
and my fav too, i too don't know
kathy lee but your comments
explains all that, did you say
you might include your self in this
write of yours, i'd find that hard to
do with a theme like this ,,,,,zigs
Hi Ziggy ...
thanks man, I'm sure there are television personalities there
that parallel Kathy Lee's plasticity. I am planning on a revision
on this, I've changed it a little now, but plan on "attempting"
to improve it, we'll see huh.
thanks again
Richard
Really liked this piece. I naturally (but wrongly) assumed this was a conversation with yourself in the mirror. I do know who Kathy Lee is, which then threw me off a little as I couldn't really see you compared to her, but it wasn't about you anyway, so what does it matter.
Did I say it was a great write?
HS
Dan ...
the look in the mirror I truly loved, and although it wasn't intended,
it just may be when I can place that thought to everyone.
I think we all have that nasty vain bone ... some are much more prominent.
thanks for the read my friend
Richard!
You're back on form there buddy! Nice to see! Just looked up something on THE BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES by Tom Wolfe the other day - this would seem appropriate as a title here too.
Most especially LOVED the last verse!
Those give and take feelings,
you think to display,
they're not fooling anybody
... not today.
Least of all you kiddo! ;)
Nice one!

To W Bush, Putin,

The Canadian PM,
Who is he?
Gosh forgot his name.
The Bush, Exprez and the PM
Had a nice joke to share
In his memoirs now in the air,
Perhaps with Kathy Lee what!!!
Would be found
Assessing these longer’ines
