Personal Notes on Angels

I don't know any angels.
Not like the ones in the Bible.
But I have met some who must be.

They have helped me walk through underlying worlds
of pain and decay just under the surface
of all the beauty I see in another sunrise.

And to appreciate the wonder I've felt
being next to those that have no wings or halos
or other decorations to show me.

I don't ever recall a biblical angel
speaking to me, or even trying
in some enlightened way.
Maybe I wasn't listening,
or maybe faith didn't want to bother.

The touchable angels I've known,
the ones without fairytale stories
and gossamer robes, have been there for me
in the broke-down times I've needed them.

Geezer

Right away, you dispelled
any preconceived idea of gloom and doom from your title
and your verse is well defined as a joy in secret knowledge

"They have helped me walk through underlying worlds
of pain and decay just under the surface
of all the beauty I see in another sunrise"

I like the story, the title and the idea that
there are personal angels, I think that I have a couple.

My favorite lines?

"Maybe I wasn't listening,
or maybe faith didn't want to bother."

Deep thoughts there.

He’s picked out some great lines and he is correct about the story and theme. There are angels everywhere, especially if you’re looking for them. I know a few personally and they lend me elevation when I’m down.
