Tragedy

Today's world is in a state of absolute
Terror

Shootings in our beloved country are now a daily occurrence
Racism is on the rise

Discrimination dominates our workplace
Schools evolve into shooting galleries

News is no longer news but opinion
Words are spoken for profit

Common sense no longer exists
Replaced by greed, terror, and selfishness

Prayer is out of style to achieve an end
Protests and riots serve our needs

Sorrow abounds
Joy needs to be rediscovered

Geezer

this is the way life has become. Everyone wants their fifteen minutes of fame, [of course, with commercial breaks, it has become no more than a couple of minutes max]. I like the concise, objective way you present this piece, it feels like a lesson observed. ~ Geezer.

It is truly disheartening to hear all these horrible news. People are coming to lose their sense of calmness and humanity for their fellow mankind.

Pretty accurate descriptions. I think you might change last word to rediscovered. It would add another layer of meaning and wistfullness

I’ve given into this despair myself. Here’s a thing that helps me. We are living in a time historically speaking that is one of the most peaceful times in human history. I know that seems backwards but we have come a long way. Yeah we are still terrible to each other but we have actually come a really long way. This gives me hope.

Great poetry as usual sir,

there is so much out there in the world to vex and cause great concern. I can not do much about it, as I am only one. but I write to my congress person and make suggestions. I sign petitions to things that are wrong. and I give to charity's and donate for animal rights. and seek to make better the world. thank you for your poem.

*hugs & love, Cat

Thank you. I know individually we cannot do much but you are right about trying to do our little piece to maybe change things for the better.
I feel that we must support the truth and change our words to make the world a beeper place
