Acolyte

I worry that honesty will atrophy
like a muscle unloved
I wonder about your lust
and if it's worth wanting.
I hope friends
is a word that won't wither.
We can weather a winter.
Seasons of snow
summoned from dust and bone.
I know you'll find opportunists
make the best acolytes.
May the swamps in which
you find yourself
be the conquerable kind.
Let the road to the rift
between us be barren
and unfound.
Tell me your weapons
will remain ready
when never used.
May I never know you
as an enemy.
May the miracles between us
be many and shared.
Let the reasons be ripe
for me to redraw your map
reclaim your gravity
and own every whim.
May we forever be
lost in an army of acolytes
Smelling snow

Geezer

like a prayer. A missive between friends that borders on a love letter. I would be proud to be the recipient of such a message.
Great language and phrases. Nicely done! ~ Geezer.

I agree with Geez, it does read like a prayer, but it also has an underlying message in it, it feels like there is some uncertainty in the friendship and that there has been a misunderstanding and that the prayer is endeavouring to relay a truthful intent.

As to the poem itself as usual it reads and flows perfectly as usual and I think it's an absolutely beautiful message, anyone would be heartened to receive it.

I would love to see you try something different I realise that this is your style, but I would like to see you step out and stretch yourself. You're a great writer and I think that as a workshop this is the perfect place to challenge yourself.
