In my own little world

Day after day
I sit and wonder
why time moves so fast
what's this spell that I'm under

It seems only moments
that I stood as a child
standing in green fields
with the sun warm and mild

The scent of freshly cut hay
floating on the breeze
my brother and I
full of life, yet at ease

Can anyone tell me
where the time went?
did I squander it foolishly
or was it well spent

My first impressions
lead me to believe
there were few mistakes made,
but I was young and naive

I had yet to experience
how my life would unfold
and yet I still ponder upon
what I've become?

The earth, the stars
the moon and sun
have guided me here
as I approach my final run!

Geezer

Is a commodity that is not easily found these days; what, with all the connections to the rest of the world. "How do you keep them down on the farm, after they've seen gay Paree?" I'm thinking that your description of the setting where you and your brother were lounging, is one of a farm or farm like setting. With the advent of instant communication and the bloom of television, the world is a much smaller place and bombarded with so much information, that we can hardly expect life to be the same some twenty years down the road, even if one lives on a farm. Good work in depicting a childhood filled with fresh air, sunshine and chores. Please don't shout, using caps! ~ Geezer.

it must be a day for remembrances. I went down that road with my poem, too!
