My memories betray me
Blackness seeps through the cracks
Light through the bedroom window
Laughs' at me and scoffs
I feel that I've been left to die
By family and friends
I just can't seem to cry out
No shelter from the pain
The rain it keeps falling
Desperately Ì continue crying out
Perhaps God will win the day
But in this hour of seeming neglect
I remember the dance again
You sway to the right then to the left
As moods wax and wane
But all to no avail
The dance never really seems to end!

Depression is...
very dangerous! It can be subtle in its appearance and we may never know. Recognizing the signs is important, but sometimes, they just don't show! You have provided a look at some of the things that don't seem like much but are signs.
I hope that you may find some relief here, with people that share your experiences. Keep writing and hopefully find a little peace. ~ Geezer.

I effectively wrote my way out of a deep depression
Literally editing my feelings. Reading things I wrote after a little time elapsed, I’d always find what I wrote to be more extreme or darker than how I really felt. It took more than that of course and I still have bad days but with therapy and some new techniques to express my feelings in a way that’s productive I’ve made a lot of strides. I’ve got the most amazing wife and children and I just couldn’t see any of it from where I was standing.
You’re in good hands here poet. It’s my aim to lift everyone up that I can.
Tim
If you’re so inclined
A song I wrote and recorded about my own struggles with depression. Your title “The Night of Day” that is so apt. Perfect.

Thank you all for your comments!
I appreciate those who read this one. It does mean something personal to me, although I would rather
have written something more upbeat and ethereal. Thanks to those who read it!
After you...
have been here a while, I will start bugging you to write something more upbeat and happier; you can count on it! For now, get to know us and read, read, read, the stuff that interests you here. Write as often as you can, and you will have a great time.
