My mom playing the radio
dancing with the broom
singing of Old Black Magic
as she swept around the room
Blues on a hot summer day
at grandma's and auntie Kit's
The whir of a fan and slap of cards
her amber glass of Tiger Schmidt's
I learned I had a bass voice
Sweet Lips Closer to The Phone
I sang country, rock and roll
I had a Jim Reeves tone
I Couldn't Get No Satisfaction
so I tried most everything
I found my taste eclectic
but certain things I had to sing
I sang with barber shop quartets
and tried a country band
I sang about wise men with Elvis
Asking for my first wife's hand
Through Viet Nam, we listened to
Chuck tell Johnny to go
Running through the jungle
where soldiers lost their souls
Watching Platoon and the unfortunate sons
with sympathy for the devils
We rode The Wind with CCR
Wooly Bully Sham and Pharaohs
Stop hey what's that sound, everybody
look what's going down?
For what it's worth, we weren't Buffaloed
Young people were speaking their minds
singing songs and carrying signs
August 1969 found me single [unofficially]
Canned Heat with Woodstock Boogie
Janis looking ragged but
taking another little piece of my heart
Jimmi twisting the anthem
to make Lady Liberty scream
Country Roads all across the south
with Blue Grass Shows
operating rides and nickel joints
singing, Gimme a Ticket For an Airplane
after my baby wrote me a letter
It didn't work, and with The End
I left, not letting The Doors
hit me on the way out.

WOW!
hey Geezer, your list is fantastic, you wove the songs in like a master, all relating to your life. great job! There is something about "sympathy for the devil" that makes my spine tingle. I will be waiting for your next installment.
*huge hugs, Cat
p.s.
I realize that sympathy for the devil is just an unrelated stray thought that I happened to mention.
I love the doors and "the end" and call me weird, but one of my favorites is "Love Street"
*love & hugs, Cat
Thank you...
I was so intrigued by the music in my life, I couldn't stop! I'm still working on the next installment, coming up to today! ~ Geez.

Yeah this is great
Definitely stays true to Cat’s idea. I stayed away from the song titles with fear that I fall down the rabbit hole and I like some weird obscure stuff. It could have gone on forever. I’m glad to see your love for music seems to be infinite. I get that totally and I love it.
Great job,
Tim
Thanks...
I figured that some of the early stuff that I mentioned would be out of reach for some of the readers, so I only chose those that would be easily identified. I too, have music that I enjoy, that probably would be classified as weird and/or obscure. I am glad that you enjoyed this, I am still working on bringing the next part up to date. I hope that it will be as interesting as the first part. ~ Geez.

Music Made Me...
Hello, Geezer,
I share so many of these wonderful memories brought back by music. You've done a great job blending songs with actions. This is fun to read, and sweetly nostalgic. Your final line shows that Geezer genius!

I don't know...
about genius, but I love a play on words and phrases. Thank you for your obvious appreciation for this piece. I'm still working on the second part and bringing it up to present day. I hope that the next part is as good as the first. ~ Geez.

Fantastic
This was amazing and you included my favorite Doors song at The End!!! Thank you for sharing those memories and your tastes in music
Yes...
The Doors left that one open for me. I couldn't resist. I'm glad that someone got that one. You and the rest of the people that shared the challenge with us, made it possible for me to share the music that has made my life. Thanks, ~ Geez.

Bravo.
This was really well done!! I had to read this one first, I went to your most recent poem and noticed it was part 2. I found this one first.
Very clever write!
Love & higgliest bugs Sis x
Thanks Sis...
Glad to have tickled your fancy with this write. I think I tried to stuff too much in the second one. I will have to cut it down, but as I've said; I'm seventy-four and I like lots of different kinds of music. ~ Geez.

From now on, 'twill be. Sir
From now on, 'twill be. Sir Gee.
Staggeringly good.
Obi.
It is an honor...
to have you refer to me as Sir Gee. I tried hard with this one, but even harder with the next part. I think that I shall have to
chip away at the big block of titles and make it a little more succinct. Thank you for the honorific Obi wan. You are the master.
~ Sir Gee.
