I lit another cigarette,
As I watched you enter the room,
Handing your fur coat over to the host,
Who ran his hand through his dark hair,
Clearly stunned by your beauty,
Your midnight blue dress,
Hugged the feminine curves of your body,
Causing my heart to race,
As I looked away for a moment,
Composing myself,
I didn't want to believe it,
I didn't want this to happen,
But I was falling madly in love with you,
A love that could never be,
So as I struggled with my feelings,
And made my way towards you,
I hardened my stare,
And grabbed your wrist roughly,
Which pained me more than you,
As I peered into those shocked and gorgeous eyes,
My heart weeping at my fate,
As I uttered the words,
"You're under arrest."

I like a poem that tells as story, goes somewhere, very enjoyable reading several times. Alex

Wow...
what a twist! Held closely until the very end; it took me by surprise! Never expected or detected until the moment of reveal.
