Underneath the Mistletoe... Neopoet Random Challege for December

It was there at the office party
Lord, she was a dream
Dressed to the nines, a beauty
She was coffee, I was the cream

Right underneath the mistletoe
just as supposed to be
I saw her there and thought
she was waiting there for me

Too late, here comes Harry
the braggart and a bore
He's had his share of kisses
here he comes for just one more

I wandered off to fetch a drink
I couldn't look at them
He held his lips on hers too long
I shivered, drank and then...

I hovered 'round the table
and didn't eat a thing
I ate a mint, drank some more
wished that I could sing

I tried to sing along
with the drunken office choir
First thing I knew, it was over
Harry'd set himself on fire

I think it was my lighter
got too close to his sleeve
They rushed him out on a stretcher
I wasn't sorry to see him leave

She was standing under the mistletoe
I was right next to her
She grabbed me by the hair
gave kisses that weren't pure

We left before Secret Santa
didn't care about those gifts
I took her home to my place
Then we did more than kiss

My... I mean his first office party, and it was sweet! She was a blonde with a lot of beautiful freckles and a sense of humor too!
Maybe I could write about it from her point of view. Thank you for the read and comment, ~ Geez.

I wonder how mistletoe is used here.
I really never used the word before. Looking it up in the dictionary, I found it's kind of shrubs with thick leaves.
If it has any poetical connotations that I am not aware off, pease help!
Thank you

During the Christmas (Yule) season there is an apparent tradition of hanging mistletoe. When one stands under the mistletoe it signifies you as a target for random assaults of affection (kissing). I have never seen it put to practice in my 44 years on this planet.

It's not a thing done much anymore, except by lecherous older couples looking for a little extra thrill of kissing someone else's woman or man with little to no consequences for either or party, except for the person who is accused by their partner of being beneath the mistletoe on purpose. ~ Geez.

lovedly

nicely you reveal
how guys around the world
kisses steal

then go home
and when asked by hubby/wifey
where have you been

you say you missed/slipped your toe
whatever
and whistle
to kiss her or him

married at the time, [in btw first and second]. Harry was though! That's on him. Anyhow, a good time was had by everybody, [except Harry]. ~ Geez.
