Letting Go

I suppose it starts
with the need to heal -
when our emotions boil over
creating a disappearing vapor
as our wounds no longer cause pain,
but a startled numbness
leaving us empty, exhausted,
spent.

Our prayers remain
but become quiet,
like pale rose petals
falling at our feet.
We close our eyes,
we bow our heads...
we whisper
but have no words.

It is an action,
to let go.
It is moving forward
without taking a step.
It is sitting in the silent
company of your own soul,
sustained by something called
Faith.

that I would add or take away from this.
Only a couple of little niggling things that I would do
to make it read just a tad smoother.

A full stop after vapor.
Capitalize As and add, [I know I said I wouldn't add anything
but] the line begs for it [and] spent.

This is a good solid poem about something that many people
would do well to think about. ~ Geezer.

I can see that the first stanza carries a run-on...and on, and on. I'll put some thought into your suggestions and try to smooth it out. I wrote this earlier this summer after realizing I was watching the news too much - Ukraine, major issues here in the States. I had to focus on balancing what I could control, and what I had to let go. Thank you for reading and helping me!

I would not change a thing. Another deep, honest write that speaks volumes to those of us who have felt the same. Well done!
