Mother's Day Today --- Did you know

And this is what we call
cyclic changes
hands face and smile

once who led you to school
now stands cool
awaiting your arrival

the one who buttered your toasts for you
now waits a soft slice of bread from you

the one who kissed you daily to school
now waits for a kiss

will you give she thinks
a tear flows down her cheek

she knows smells now her repose
the son too has also gone through change
his consort is all for whom he remains

my son come once again
at least today
'tis Mother's rightful day

come and in my arms do play
just for once if you may

if only for a wee while today

Hello! I really enjoyed this poem… your writing is in such a unique and refreshing style! This poem truly illustrates the conflict a mother has when trying to both keep and let go of her son. One thing.. instead of saying “cyclic all changes” I would say “cyclic changes”. Well done on illustrating a different kind of love, one between a son and mother.
