Dante, our dog, stretches - from his cute behind
to his graceful neck, paws outstretched
and tendons taught, his cold nose pressed
back and forth between our sleepy faces
No alarm needed!
We get up before the coffee is ready
Her hair disheveled, but somehow lovely
Mischievous pats on our derrieres
a favorite part of the daybreak waltz
Get the creamer, grab a clean spoon
beep, beep – our caffeine is ready!
The demands of the day are approaching
pressing us now, not what we like,
but our morning choreography
keeps Monday’s blues from turning to black

having had a dog once (a beautiful half German S. half Greyhound named Tosha) I can picture this doggie maneuver in my mind! I like your poem as it is easy going and fun. it tells the reader more about you. I see you as a great guy & wife!

Hi Cat, thanks for stopping
Hi Cat, thanks for stopping by! Dante was an Italian Greyhound. We had to say goodbye to him about a month ago - 16 years old! My memories of him will likely keep showing up in my writing for a while. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this piece!
Cheers
dear Michael,
Dante sounds like he was a wonderful part of your family. you keep on writing about him, and I will read and enjoy >{^*;*^}<
