That raspy, sexy voice
You pour the music in my ear
My heart is skipping beats
I feel your soul so near
While I'm listening to the music
I hear your lonesome song
When you're kissing my troubled mind
You can do no wrong
No matter how far away
And I've traveled far
I will follow you, find you
No matter where you are
We'll sing those blues together
Burn the candle at both ends
Making the house come down
We are lovers, not just friends

der Geez,
this poem is lovely. it flows well and carries the reader right along. with this piece, you have shown and shared another side of yourself. thank you for that. I really liked these lines:
No matter how far away
And I've traveled far
I will follow you, find you
No matter where you are
*hugs, Cat
I was listening...
to Janis this morning and found myself listening to Youtube and some of the best blues singers on "The Voice". Sometimes I write while listening to music and this is what came out today! Thanks for the read and comments, it helped to brighten my day. Hugs from the boys, ~ Geez.

Nice piece!
I thought of Janis Joplin when reading it. Really enjoy the musicality!
Thank you...
Janis is one of my favorites! I listen to her a lot! ~ Geez.

Have you ever had any interactions with jess
you would have been for ever in blues
and varying hues
why use ellipses he'd ask you
and your answer will be blue
he'd turn red
and say have no clue
good stay in the blues
the moon knows well
till when to...these I end with ellipses..........
jess wil excuse me
Gee has come with modern mastery
I don't know...
about mastery, but I love the blues and ellipses. Two of my favorite things! I also love ragtime and boogie-woogie. I think that if I have lived a previous life, it must have been in the late 1800's to the mid 1900's when those types of music were prevalent.
Something about the abandonment, the feeling of just letting go... Anyway, thanks for the read and comment. ~ Geez.

glad you are you and I am I
You continue in belief of what you were or will be
I if you do permit
will live on evidence
I KNOW
Not what I was if at all
and I have no certainty
whether next time
as you say
will I be cat or pup
they also have lives
like humans and monkeys
Did you know monkeys share with us
94 percent genes
do ask them
when will they share the balance
they were the first ones to peel bananas
we followed them
Janis
Always an inspiration! I am also a fan. Something attractive about her unmistakable voice. Your poem was well written. Simple and to the point. I enjoyed the sultry, romantic feel. You could not just hear but feel the attraction and longing for the singer/music.
Thank you so much...
I guess I managed to do what I set out to, which was to write a sexy, romantic poem, that maybe Janis could have sung. She had a way of making it feel as though she was singing directly to you. So sad that she died at such an early age. I would love to hear what she would be doing now. ~ Geez.
