And the cold, grey dawn reveals
the destruction that was wrought
in the dark of night, with fireworks
the human lives that were bought
Targets from a distance
become souls that were snuffed out
Oh, the lives we took, I cannot look
I want to cry and shout
I protect my country's borders
our families are threatened too
I may lose my life, taking others
I don't know what to do
I heard a soldier crying "Mother"
I know he died last night
I saw him bleeding and dying
he didn't want to fight
A madman thinks he's privileged
born to rule these lands
Let's not give him our lives
we can take them from his hands
Let's all lay down our weapons
hug each other and cry
We can stop this killing
together, you and I

dear Geez,
the pain and torment is all here an it is very poignant. I feel it deeply. it is these lines that I resonate to:
Let's all lay down our weapons
hug each other and cry
We can stop this killing
together, you and I
*love & hugs, Cat
Dearest Bro
It's all there, the suffering, punishment and pain. You've given me courage to post. The one that was confronting to write. But truth. That's what this poem is. Truth. My favourite lines are these
A madman thinks he's privileged
born to rule these lands
Let's not give him our lives
we can take them from his hands
Let's all lay down our weapons
hug each other and cry
We can stop this killing
together, you and I
God I wish more than you know that that last stanza was more than a thought and became reality. I fricking hate war.
Love and higgliest bugs Sis ❤
