The sunflowers bend
and do not break
spectral mists rise
behind a foreign dictate
Kindergartens sleep
underground, so deep
evil propelled atop a man
settled in his carriage
Newborns hidden
into a neonatal trench
families weep fear
a mother's dry tears
The ghosts of history
rise from their rest
crying for their future
surprisingly with them
Blue and yellow bleed
with a leader in battle
not sitting enthroned
safe in a Palace
Uncharacteristically
heroically humble
true courage speaks
reconciling with death
They die in my yesterday
as I live in their tomorrow
praying for a miracle
or an assassination.

dearest Jayne,
reading your poem has left me in a ball of writhing emotions. we (the usa) have placed some heavy sanctions against russia, but as of yet not gotten militarily involved. I have mixed feelings about that.
the lines of your poem that moves me the most are:
They die in my yesterday
as I live in their tomorrow
praying for a miracle
or an assassination.

I have been watching the news constantly. I watched Bidens address last night, Our PM and our country are mirroring all the sanctions that your country have placed on Russia, I have been watching the live feed from the Ukraine and in one stream I watched in real time as an apartment block was blown to smithereens. I think what crushed me the most was seeing babies who should be in Nicu's being kept alive by nurses hand pumping oxygen into them to keep them alive underground. I have about 6 poems about the ongoing war. This was the least confronting and I know what a touchy subject it is for many people. I have mixed feelings about that last stanza like you but I felt it was in essence a truth for some. It doesn't make it right. One life for how many others. Thanks for calling in on this. I was worried posting it to be truthful. But that's our job. Jess told me to tell the truth even if it's a painful one.
Hugs and love J ❤

He usually was right. God we used to fight like cats & dogs. I miss the fights. Or debates. He was so precious and so smart. When I found out I was crushed. I spoke to his sister she is absolutely gorgeous. I've written a few poems to and for him. I'll miss him always and keep his memory alive. Ian was another huge loss for me. You know he was the first person to comment on my first post. He's so missed too. I am writing a poem for him. In the think of course so it has to be perfect.
Love and hugs J.
P.s. tell Eddy I said long time eh? ;)
Very powerful...
Funny how great minds... LoL. I was thinking the same thing at the end, but5 didn't come right out and say it! I forget, we aren't on FB. ~ Love and higgest bugs, Bro.

I know eh? But then it's not the first time it's happened lol. Omg that you were thinking it and I said it. I nearly didn't but I watched a YouTube video and its run by a retired UK soldier. Of great fame in the UK. I'll tell you about what his suggestion is to end the war in the Ukrzine privately, it's very controversial. Thanks for stopping by. It feels so good to be back eh? I missed this so much.
Love & higgliest bugs Sis ❤
