Holiday Poem to a Friend - December Prompt

To my friend, my beautiful friend,
I swear I don’t wait in envy.
The dust collecting on my shelves,
Waiting for you to pay attention.
The holiday season come and gone,
I sit in wait, your letter is coming.
Any day- it is- I swear it.
The holiday lights shine in the moonlight
The glass ornaments reflect hidden tears
This holiday season was no white one,
The paint is chipping off of my nails,
Fall\ing to the floor,
Left until it becomes nothing.
My hair has grown now-
Would you even recognize me, friend?
I miss dancing in the snow,
Huddling for warmth,
Drinking cocoa in the firelight,
I’ve been left to shiver in the cold alone.
The dark, endless wood swallows me.
Your fire lit me to life,
Please bring me back to life.
My frail fingers tremble with a pencil in hand,
I try to rub the ache in my temples away.
I know I’ll never send this letter.
If you’ve forgotten me- then I’ll do the same.
My beautiful friend, I wish I could shine without you.
I’ll just have to learn to.

very sad. To miss someone who probably is moving on with their lives and you are still having thoughts of them. I like you have expressed very well, the random thoughts and [I suspect the idea that maybe you may have changed enough, that NOW this person may like you enough to give you a second chance.] I am confused about the slashes that appear in some of the words, maybe you have done this on a phone? Anyway, good work! ~ Geezer.

A heartfelt poem. But my pet peeve is stanzas. The paragraphs of poetry. I'd encourage you to use them. They give readers time to catch their breath and absorb a poem in pieces instead of trying to do so in one big gulp. I really like the your fire lit me to life line......stan
