If you want chaos, then keep a cat
He'll wreck your couch and eat your hat,
Walk on your bed with paws of mud;
And if he's not content with that,
Lay down a bird upon your mat,
And spatter all the house with blood,
As if a murder's taken place -
Then rub his head upon your face.
Of course, the cat is filled with love,
He'll wrap around you like a glove,
So you'll forgive his murd'rous pranks
And, like an angel from above,
You'll welcome every feline shove
Accept each tiny corpse with thanks,
And bless the claws which shred your suite -
The feathers spread around your feet.
For since the cat first came in sight,
Into the cave-fire's flick'ring light
He's made his way into our hearts
A purring wraith of black and white,
A crying siren in the night:
An animal of many parts,
With moonlight in his amber eyes -
Celestial spirit in disguise.

I'm still choking...
on the cat fur and laughing at the antics of some of my favorite cat memories! We can't have a dog at our present place, so having a cat, would be purrrfect, but for the fact that my wife has turned allergic. Damn! We have had some great cats over the years and you seem to have personified them all. I can find no fault with this piece. Your rhythm and pattern are well done! ~ Geez.
