I will be right over
is what he says to me
About an hour later
or maybe it is three
I watch him stop to pet the dog
wave at the neighbor to say hi
He's late, but he won't jog
I'm so mad that I could cry!
She's busy at the moment
But just as soon as she is done
we'll get to what we have to
and do it on the run
What about the time I spend
waiting just for you?
I have to shit, you little twit
What am I supposed to do?
It doesn't matter, what I say
control is what they want
Try to prod them any faster
is like pushing an elephant
But why should I wait on you
for when YOU want to go?
How about, I make you wait
how's that, I'd like to know?
They say that I am obstinate
I'm lazy, want to shirk
Those everyday things to do
I don't want to work
But I am just so tired
of having to comply
with waiting for the others
I'm here asking why?
Just tell me you'll be ready
when you get around
If I'm not here, start without me
My power has been found!

hey Geez,
you aptly tell a story of being used and abused by a control freak! In the end you turn the tables back on her. and empower yourself by taking back the control. I learned that lesson several years ago...but I sometimes find that I have to relearn it again! I can find no fault with this poem. it is amazing!

My wife isn't...
always that bad. Just sometimes. She gets into one of those moods, where she thinks that I've dissed her and wants to put me in my place. My next door neighbor is another one that makes me wait; I don't have to do anything to make him upset, it's just his way. I've gotten a bit more control lately. He usually comes to the window of my bedroom and knocks on it or I'll see him coming and open the window. [The reason for this, is that I keep his money and credit cards over here, as he's been robbed a couple of times.] But most times he will call and say that he'll be right over and I am trapped sitting here waiting for him to show. Now, I wait about ten minutes and if he doesn't show, I go do whatever. I go to the bathroom, make a sandwich for lunch, get a cup of tea or coffee etc. I most usually hear him at the window, but if I'm in the middle of doing something, I make him wait. He'll go home and call me, saying I came over, but you weren't there. I tell him; "Yeah, but I got tired of waiting and went to make lunch or... The last time, he called and said he was coming over, he was there in a couple of minutes! Thanks for your read and comment! ~ Geez.

I’m with you on this
I get so pissed with those individuals that feel entitled to waste my time in their version of “wait for me, I’m worth it.”
Nice reality-based piece you wrote!
Yes...
Some people don't mean it as a thing to punish you or make themselves important, they just figure that you are always there and always will be. As I've said to Cat. I've started taking back control. I make them wait for me now, after I wait a reasonable length of time, if they don't show, I just go do whatever I want to do and let them wait for me. Nice to feel like I am in control now! Thanks for the read and comment. ~ Geez.

i am probably too young
to understand this poem, but I really liked anyways. I understand the whole waiting and having to patient thing though.(that's the worst part of being a kid)
It doesn't stop...
when you get to be an adult! You just have to wait for different people. Some people don't think about making you wait, because you are always there. They don't figure they have to be on time or hurry, because you will still be there when they finally get there. Never realizing that maybe you have something else you should be or could be doing. I have sat waiting for my neighbor, when he says "I'll be over in a little bit"; sitting there having to go to the bathroom or wanting to make a cup of coffee, etc. Sometimes, someone will say that they want to do something, but when I say when? They say; "When I am done with what I am doing, I'll let you know." How about me? I might want to sit and write or play a game or watch a T.V. program, but now, half way through the program or whatever I am doing, they expect me to drop whatever I'm doing and do whatever they want. [ That's where the lines: They say that I am obstinate, lazy and don't want to work, come in. Thanks for the read and comments, and you do understand. ~ Geez.

i like the poem but i am not
i like the poem but i am not sure about going back and forth talking to "you" and about "they". what about last line "my power has been found" to avoid the inversion
I agree that...
the last line could read as you say. [I changed it]. Haven't you ever talked to someone who makes you angry, as though they were there? I don't think that anyone was confused about the switching from you to they, but if "they" are, and say so, I will gladly rethink those lines.
