Tears In Rain

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe
Nerds clamoring for an autograph
off the main floor of Comicon's endless aisles

I watched cosplayer's with low budgets
embarrass themselves in the light
near entrance gate C
All those moments will be lost in time,
like tears in rain.

About This Poem

Last Few Words: Just having some goofy fun with Rutger Hauer's classic monologue from Blade Runner (which I just watched again for the umpteenth time). This movie blew my mind when I first saw it, and Hauer's lines were probably the MOST poetic thing in film I had ever seen up to that point. It influenced me to look for poetry in so many unexpected places since then. Being an old nerd myself, this silliness is written with love for my nerd peeps, Ridley Scott for blazing a trail with his classic film, and with a HUGE tip-o-the-pen to Rutger Hauer.

Geezer

Rutger Hauer! I think that the first time I saw him on film was in something called "The Hitcher" 1986. Great stuff, I could tell that he was a star even then. Nice job, you did. Sounds like his style. ~ Geez.

Bladerunner is one of my favorite movies too...Rutger Hauer's portrayal is superb, and I think Ridley Scott is a genius.
and I agree, his dying monologue is one of the most poetic, timeless and emotional in cinema of any genre.
You made me laugh, the first time in quite a while.
Thank you.

"Blade Runner" is also one of my favorite movies. they don't make many like that any more! Rutger Hauer was the perfect man for the part..he delivered the real goods. I love the last line of your poem! excellent!
