I've often wondered
why our vast vision
is scared of a wanderer
freely called death
I have oft wondered
why the likes of our ilk
treat it as a care
which even mammals
do not much stare
I have oft wondered
why does our intelligence wander
to and beyond the darkness
there lies only loneliness
now tell me how often
you wander so that I may not suffer
the skies are still so blue
snows just pass through
can this wonder be an imagery
why a fall is needed before snowfall

Maiden Villanelle
Hello, Lovedly,
Beautiful poetry - " ...the skies are still so blue, snow comes just through." I looked up the villanelle form before commenting, but need more education. I see the nineteen lines and the five tercets followed by the quatrain. Must there always be rhyme, too? Very interesting!
Thank you!

Hi, Lovedly,
I see the rhyme in your third stanza. We've studied villanelles here on Neopoet a few times, and I am still grasping its form. It's one of Alan's favorite poetry styles. He may be able to give some insight along with Stan. I can tell you that your poem gives a lot to ponder. Beautiful language.
Thank you, Lovedly!
