Christmas Past is nagging me
"Remember... you did this?"
I say yeah, I think I do
But, I don't think that they're still pissed
I've been a real good guy now
For a lot of years
No escapades with women
I can't even have a beer
"But, it's such fun to remind you
Of the words you did not keep
Of the things that you have done
You should be losing sleep"
A fading light and poof, he was gone
I settled down to sleep
"Ahem" I heard, "Are you awake"?
Now I'm just about to weep!
The Present sat across from me
"Don't I have my chance"?
I thought that we were settled
So what's your song and dance?
"If you really want some peace of mind
There are things that you can do"
Yeah, like what? I said crossly
"Well, there are a few"
"Tell people that you're sorry
Make apologies
Go out and donate time
To some refugees"
You know what? I said; I'm done!
I got nothing more for you
I'll deal with all this later
Now, it's time for you to cruise
You guys give me ulcers
I don't want to have the spirit
And as for Christmas cheer
I don't want to hear it
And so the dawn is breaking
I didn't get much sleep
And I'm lying here awake
Thinking thoughts so deep
Ahhhh... Screw this Christmas spirit
I'm sleeping in today
No presents or apologies
That's all I got to say

Well, except for the end...
I had a good time with it. If you get a theme in your head and the rhythm is good, it just seems to come easy. Sometimes, it's hard to stop! I'm glad you like it and had a chuckle or two. Yeah, I won't try too hard to convince ou of my bad-boy status, but there were times... On that note, I think I will go get some egg-nog and a bit of that Guyanese rum that my landlord brought us when he came back from vacation, to his country. Nice mellow stuff, an amber rum that is so smooth! ~ Geez.

With you all the way!
With you all the way!
except the" saying sorry" bit.
still, its nice to reminisce
afore we --- take that last - shit.
Obi.
( You're right, this has good rhythm.)
The apology bit...
is not what I really am about. I just threw that in there to be more Scrooge-like. Thanks for the visit, nice to see you. ~ Geez.

Oh yes...
I am all smiles at the women, but nothing more than that. Since I've married, there hasn't been anyone other than my wife.

Great poem
Love this "hide nothing" poem.
Thank you sir...
I frequently "let it all hang out!" ~ Geezer.

Ok...I think...
I've got it figured out now. I left out the beginning stanza before. I put it back in and took out another, because it didn't seem to really relate to the rest of the poem. Now how does it read? I do have quotation marks around the 'others' part of the conversation. Is it better? ~ Geez.
.
Glad...
I made it better, but it was done just as it should be, with the help of my fellow poets! Thank you. ~ Geez.
