Dear shadow

Lying in a misty mellow meadow
just me and
my shapeless shadow.
I cry cause I’m to shy
To show him how
I’ll have to go .
“Dear shadow
Wipe that tear
From your eye .
I wish you could hold
my hand so you can
Understand.
That as time
goes by
We will
Shrivel up
and die .
so say
goodbye
to the sun.
cause the
The deed
Has been done.
Oh
this is to much
To bear .
I wish we could
Go back
To where
Our eyes
lit up with light.
Instead of
dimming down
Deep
Into the night .

I was inspired to write this when I watching a cat stevens concert he was singing wild world. and I noticed that on the ground his shadow grew enormous and I saw this I thought through time as he got older his shadow will get and smaller and smaller. Until finally both he and his shadow are gone.
