HAUNTED BY HINDSIGHT

This trail I have been on so long
has carried me through forests and fen.
Sometime the turns I took were wrong
but I always regained this path again.

All the people I met on my way,
affected by the tracks I left behind,
until this late but present day
still linger in my troubled mind.

Though I intended naught but well
Some, in retrospect, were hurt by me.
It's upon those wronged that I now dwell.
Ghosts of mistakes won't let me be.

One more hill now blocks my way
and it's lined by those as yet unmet
some of whom I'll meet today.
Will their meeting me bring them regret?

I sigh for lack of clear foresight
as I face another unknown day
but hope today I'll get things right
and leave joy and love along my way.

Touching, the words, the feelings invoked, the strength it took to share this piece.

Some pieces I hold in reserve... i believe this would have kept it close -had I written it. Thank you for bringing it to view!
