I couldn’t be more sure
Of all the nostalgia I’d endure,
If I were to explore
A calf love crisis
That was so hard to cure,
How your mummy knew mine,
They’d been friends
For a little time,
And the time that you explained,
Your first name was Jane.
In our local swimming pool,
I swam so close to you,
Did you smirk
To your bob-haired friend,
Between the deep and the shallow end?
So I just shyly slinked away,
Feeling such a fool that day,
Pet Clark reinforced
My bitter woe,
Singing 'My Love' on the radio.

Great to see you too, Teddy!
I am so glad you enjoyed this, I would have been about 9 or 10 when I had this crush, but I've never forgotten it nor the music that was around at the time, 'We Can Work it Out' by Stevie Wonder, 'Yesterday' by the Beatles, 'My Love' by Petula Clark. 'Baby Love' was around about this time too, loved that one, although my favourite of theirs was 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough'. And yes, she did notice me, it was she who came up to me first and told me about her mum knowing mine, and then she went cool on me!
I know it does, Teddy...
...and truly, it means a lot, I love what you say about my verse here. There will be more, promised. Bye for now. Carl.
