Expectations, expectations
perfect rhymes
and inflections
at all times.
Detailed exacting imagery,
pictures painted using words
all revealing some "real" me.
Written words set free like birds.
Searching for some classic line
or maybe one to induce laughter
that I can pluck from memory's vine
seldom finding what I'm after.
Maybe I should just give in
and throw my pen far as I can.
Sometimes inspiration tastes like tin.
I know that I'm no poetry man.....

Hi Ted
Sometimes I think I have made a mistake in improving my writing. At one time I had no expectations of writing well and now I almost feel like I should either write only a master piece (Which I'm not capable of) or nothing
Thank you
I am never a good judge of my own stuff
I beg to differ too...
This is one of those "perfect" poems that you write every now and then. I can't disagree with a single thing you have said here. With plain and simple language, you have expressed exactly what was intended, like no one else could have in this moment. Without flaw, this has been what you do best. What more can you ask for? To be funny, give a great bit of wisdom,
or truth? I would rather see that part of you that does this. ~ Gee.
.
I guess
even a blind pig finds an acorn on occasion. You should see the pile of poetry which I began then abandoned because I decided it wasn't good enough. But I appreciate your visit as always
I have stuff...
scattered here and there and everywhere. Ya think I just crank out poems effortlessly? I sometimes, find that after a couple of lines; that it just ain't working. So I stuff them in a box or leave them on my computer in my notebook for a while. If I don't get back to them or find that they still aren't working, I just toss them. Sometimes, I don't even get to use things I think of, because I say to myself that "I'll remember that line or theme" and find that it's just a distant memory when I get back to it; because I didn't write it down. Keep writing and don't worry about what you didn't write. ~ Gee.

lol
The problem is I do my writing on spiral bound notebooks. So these unfinished poems are mixed in with finished ones and are always there haunting me
r u stan hinting at (me)
I know that I'm no poetry man
You know
I seldom hint, I just go ahead and say what I mean lol. So no this is not about anybody other than me.......Started to not post this as it seems almost as if I'm too self centered
Hi Stan, why ever do you
Hi Stan, why ever do you think you're no poetry man? Throwing your pen away? OK, use the keyboard, but don't throw the baby out with the water...lol.
I always find your poems inspiring, amusing, philosophical and much more. If you threw some away, that was a silly thing to do. I'm presently posting my weakest poems, hoping you poets will help me perfect them.
The title, content, spacing, all is fine. No nits. Inspiration tastes like tin? Weird...
Enjoyed, all the best, Gracy
Hi Grace
You see, I write stuff but in the back of my mind I'm always comparing myself to the greats like Frost and Poe and Wordsworth. Sometime I think I might be getting close but usually I just sigh and figure well.....this is at best OK. Btw have you ever put your tongue on a piece of tin? I promise if you do you will have mixed reaction to it lol
