last dance (by: eddy styx)

hush...
can you hear it?
take a deep breath
hold it, now listen...
if you can hear
past the thudding
of your own heart...
put the palm of your hand
lightly but firmly to your chest.
now, put your hand to mine,
feel the difference in intensity?
the slow steady beat
like the ticking
of a grand clock...
winding down.
now meet my eyes
as my blade slides
between your beautiful ribs...
my dead heart quickens,
at the intake of
your last vanishing breath
and I ease your spent body
languidly to the ground.

*eddy styx is my malevolent male alter ego who writes dark poetry

having an alter ego is great for freeing the imagination! it helps a person to step out of themselves and write creatively. you find that you see things in a new light, or should I say a new darkness, LOL!

cat,

I like the pacing of this. There is a certain attentive and measured quality to eddy's instructions. Can I call it romantic?
