The King and I

I met the king last night
I talked to him,

I told him how I want to be him
because he has everything
to help the poor,

I told him that
I want to be the king
to wear the crown
of justice,

to give the homeless
a place in my palace
to sleep,

then everyone
is given
the needed
solace.

Hi Rula, your poem speaks for the whole world of poverty. I like the title, remembering The King and I...used to love it! You have some nice end rhymes and some internal ones, or half rhymes. Which King are you planning to meet?!
All the best, Gracy

I'm not sure any king will be happy to meat me or even read mu words. In fact I wish one will do, then he'll know how much responsibilities he has toward his people.
If the rich give the poor their RIGHTS, no one will be poor, but as I see it, the rich are becoming richer everyday and the poor are becoming poorer. Alas!

we might be just dreamers. I may never meat a king myself not because I am less or inadequate to do so, but because day after day they build a block up between them and their people so as not to hear or hear about the people who grind more pain everyday.
Poverty will last forever, still we all have to do our own part, it never harms to send a message to ourselves and others. If you're able to put a smile on a poor's face for a moment, you're doing then a great job.

...is perhaps confusing as it inevitably makes one think of the dreadful Rogers & Hammerstein musical which spoiled so many people's evening at the cinema!

I am not fully getting your comment as I don't know what do you mean by the Rogers & Hammerstein, yet I thank you for passing by anyway!

"The King & I" is a musical by R&H!
PS I meant Rodgers.
